Dan
Baldwin
One of Britain's best
up and coming artists by Sir Alan Sugar on BBC2s highly popular
programme The Apprentice.
Dan graduated with an award for excellence from Maidstone
School of Art in 1995 and was subsequently offered a one year studio
associate position,
which involved tutorials and teaching. Prior to that he was at
Eastbourne College of Art, where he won Best Student Award (92).
His current paintings explore beauty and innocence, life and death, a
theme often repeated? His work mixes natural and innocent icons with
dark
symbols and distorted perspectives to leave the viewer charmed but also
slightly unnerved? - Minavie Brighton (July 2005). He has experimented
with sculpture, incorporating taxidermic elements and paintings with
real birds and butterflies, yet plastic flies, flowers and forest
pieces sum up the
sinister / beautiful theme perfectly. Dan is currently showing
paintings and vases in Naked Eye Gallery (Hove) and at the Kettle
Gallery in October '05.
Dan Baldwin has exhibited his paintings and sculpture widely within
London and the south of England. In the 15 years as an artist, Dan has
produced
an epic body of work including c.d covers, book covers, illustration
banners and t-shirts.
As well as a full page feature in Elle magazine, Dan's work has
featured in numerous publications including Dazed and Confused, I.D,
Theme, The Guardian,

famous windows of London's Selfridges department store alongside Vic
Reeves,
