Since the early sixties fine wines including Bordeaux,
Burgundy
and Vintage Port have proved
over the medium to long term to be
an excellent investment. As with any investment there
is some risk
attached, but provided the wine merchant has a good reputation
and
indeed experience of wine as an investment then the return
can be rewarding.
In addition to the traditional list of investment wines
-
Claret, Burgundy, Port, I would
suggest some Rhone wines, German Desert wines,
and for the short to medium term, Vintage
Champagne.
There are other special wines from around the world which
are also worth considering,
such as Langtry Meritage from California
, Casa Real from the Santa Rita estate, Chile
and the sought after Jim Barry 'Armagh' Shiraz, Australia.
